A FEW OF OUR CLIENTS SUCCESS STORIES
Large Telecom Company - an industry leading developer and manufacturer of next-generation edge access equipment and multiservice broadband solutions for the telecommunications industry.
Elements has provided them with innovative health and benefits solutions for over four (4) years. When Elements integrated their evidence based Health & Lifestyle Management Programs into the insurance component in 2003 there was an immediate positive impact to the financial bottom line and the overall health of the plan participants.
Over the past 4 years (2003-2006) they have averaged just over 1,000 employees located all over the country. In 2003 Elements realized that this client was trending above national average with health care costs per employee. A strategic plan was developed in conjunction with their management team to meet their business objectives. The goal was to get control of their raising health care costs by developing a better understanding for what the plan participants risk factors are, developing programs to combat these risk factors and providing short and long-term incentives for individuals to become a partner in the health care delivery system rather then an adversary. The results were dramatic and have improved every year. This client was purchased in 2006 in a $5B transaction.
Following are a few highlights:
Client health care costs annual growth rate vs. industry trend

- FY 2005 – resulted in an overall savings of $840,000 from FY 2004 health care related costs.
- FY 2006 – resulted in an overall savings of $750,000 from FY 2005 health care related costs
- Had over 80% participation rate in the Health & Lifestyle Management Programs
Most of these savings have come from lower health insurance claims, along with a reduction in injuries, absenteeism, and favorable premium negotiations due to the activities and programs introduced by Elements. We receive emails daily from employees thanking us for our pro-active approach and ongoing support. Some say they have lost weight (10lbs - 40 lbs) a direct result of our Walk for the Health of It! & Eat for the Health of It! Programs. Employees say they have more energy, feel more efficient and believe that the company truly cares about them. Some of these responses can not be measured in dollars.

School District in Oregon – located in Southern Oregon this school district was part of a large insurance pool receiving high double digit premium increases yearly before Elements took them on as a client. They have two union groups who are both very active in negotiating health benefits for their employees.
Elements has provided this school district with innovative health benefits solutions for over four (4) years. When Elements integrated their evidence based Health & Lifestyle Management Programs into the insurance component in 2003 there was an immediate positive impact to the financial bottom line and the overall health of the plan participants. The initial negotiations with the unions was difficult as they felt that by adding the Health & Lifestyle Management Programs we were going to take health benefits away. They realized that as they engaged in the programs their access to additional health benefits actually increased.
Over the past 4 years (2003-2006) they have averaged just over 478 employees. In 2004 Elements realized that this client was potentially going to be forced into the Oregon State Insurance pool for K-12 schools and moved them into a minimum premium plan in order to obtain utilization data and meet the state regulatory requirements. A strategic plan was developed in conjunction with the Superintendent, the Health Team and the Union leaders to meet their objectives. The goal was to get control of their raising health care costs by developing a better understanding for what the plan participants risk factors are, developing programs to combat these risk factors and providing short and long-term incentives for individuals to become a partner in the health care delivery system rather then an adversary. They wanted to be able to maintain their high level of health benefits with now financial increase to employees. The results were dramatic and have improved every year.
Elements was able to work with the Superintendent along with some political leaders to allow this school district to opt out of the Oregon Insurance Pool set up for K-12 schools because we showed our cost per employee was over 30% lower then the projected pool.
