Authenticity
Elements Health Plans is a breath of fresh air in a toxic environment
Who is not aware that we are in a healthcare crisis? It is obvious to almost everyone that our current healthcare delivery model is not sustainable. Just consider the fact that only 4% of all physicians are family doctors and of that 4%, even fewer have the resources to open clinics to providethe quality care we need. Why? Three reasons:
Ten years ago Elements Health Plans knew there was a problem and decided it needed to be fixed. The first order of business was to find working models. Unfortunately, few existed, let alone the authentic, genuine conversation it would take from politicians, business leaders, and insurance executives to make them part of our current system.
Instead, our system of “health” continues to burden us with more and more complexity, assuring only that it will not be understood and that it will not be willing to explore new possibilities.
This current healthcare (or, as we call it, “sick care”) model falters on every level.
- The current model takes a punitive approach. This system punishes the public for seeking information and guidance by increasing costs.
- The current model is delivered by insurance professionals—not health advocates. These individuals are paid too well, are responsive to Wall Street (not Main Street), and are less than interested in the real business of providing quality healthcare.
- The current model is delivered by brokerage firms that believe they are in the business of insurance and equities. The sales and service staffs of these firms support the status quo—not the end client who suffers, while the brokers and insurance companies prosper.
This inherently rotten structure is finally toppling, but the public is jaded and disheartened—as are we at Elements Health Plans. It is getting harder and harder to believe that any real change can occur. That is why for the past 6 years Elements has been quietly designing and executing a sustainable and integrated health benefits program [LINK], a program that works each and every time, too. Why? Because it rewards employer groups, employees, and practitioners for seeking a life of wellbeing—and it does so without sacrificing economic feasibility.
EHP is not “new” or “old.” It is simply a firm rooted in clear, forward thinking about the delivery of healthcare. It is based on the philosophy that health is not a commodity; it is a caring, sophisticated balance—a dance between science and art.
Elements designs plans based on genuine conversation with insurance and healthcare experts, health technology professionals, and end-users. We can do this because we know that by doing good we all prosper, on all levels.
Elements calls this model The Five Elements Of Health.

The Five Elements of Health Model is based on the fact that health is a dynamic interplay, encompassing the five elements of health: physical health, financial health, spiritual health, self health, and relationship health. We are certain of this fact after years of providing health benefit programs and performing science-based studies on this topic.
The Five Elements of Health Model is the basis for all EHP health plans. It assumes that:
- We all wish to be well and live well.
- If we have access to the resources and support we need, we seek wellbeing.
- The more we seek wellbeing, the less true healthcare plans cost.
The goal of all EHP health plans is to help you succeed through sound, thoroughly transparent economic planning, utilization, and analysis.
WHY ELEMENTS HEALTH PLANS?
When we developed our plan we believed that the health insurance industry wanted a real way to save dollars and support its policy holders. But as one insurance executive stated wryly, "Just because you're right, doesn't mean it will work." We showed our plan to brokerage firms only to be told, "Out of the 1,500 sales reps we have, maybe two will get it." That’s when we realized it was up to us: that we needed to market and service our plans ourselves.
Elements combines the best of all possible worlds: we provide the services of a broker and consultant, yet work for our clients by designing plans that work. The Elements Plan changes the adversarial nature of healthcare delivery, contains costs, brings plan ownership to the client, and stops the endless cycle of revolving carriers that increases deductibles and co-pays, and perpetuates the “more for less” employee conundrum. Most importantly, our plan nurtures the overwhelming human desire to seek information and acquire skills to remain well. Why is this important? Because when people stay well, claims go down. When claims go down, so do your healthcare costs.
On many nights when we could have been sleeping, we were reading insurance contracts. This not only enabled us to bring quality questions to insurance executives, but made us more knowledgeable than the writers of the complex language now known as Insurance-ese.
EHP holds all appropriate licenses and credentials. We are certified financial planners, certified coaches, therapists—professionals diverse in education, background, and qualifications. We know our field inside and out and partner with the very best and brightest to administer plans and decode legalese.
